OsteoSync™ PEEK is a highly porous Polyether ether ketone (PEEK) polymer scaffold material designed for improved implant fixation and clinical ease of use. It is a platform technology with a variety of potential applications across the field of orthopedics, all of which are currently available for license. Pre-clinical bone ingrowth studies of the technology demonstrate promise and more studies are planned.
OsteoSync™ PEEK at the center of the device facilitates bone ingrowth and spinal fusion without the need for autologous bone harvesting and placement, saving valuable OR time and reducing potential co-morbidities from bone harvesting. It also offers the potential to eliminate the need for allograft or bone graft substitutes, reducing cost to the healthcare system.
OsteoSync™ PEEK spacers attached to TKR implants enable initial bony support and long-term stability like their solid metal counterparts do, but they can also simplify a future revision procedure as a bone saw can cut through the OsteoSync PEEK material to release the implant, leaving more bone and a solid foundation for implant support and potentially improving revision outcomes.
OsteoSync™ PEEK soft-tissue fixation devices enable improved long-term implant stability with bony integration into the implant. This is in contrast to traditional solid metal, PEEK and bioresorbable fixation devices.
